Tanvi

Another adorable little newborn to share with you all. Nisha & Bala visited me for their baby girl’s newborn photos…just five days old and she’s so precious. She greeted me with some of the biggest and best smiles I’ve captured with a newborn. We spent most of our time learning to work around her needs and learning to position her just how she wanted…despite all those sweet little smiles she surely let us know when she wasn’t fond of our ideas. Thankfully we fell in love with the ideas she had for us to capture of her newborn moments. Nisha & Bala I hope you all enjoy the moments we captured with your baby girl…she surely is a sweet little blessing. Best wishes to you all.

Mila

This past week I spent a little time capturing moments with newborn Mila’s family. At just one week old she elected to spend majority of the first hour with typical newborn needs as well as being super alert. In the moments she was being cared for I got to spend a little time having some fun with her big brother Liam. Thankfully after the first hour Mila gave into letting me work with her to capture some of her priceless newborn moments. Thanks to Maricarmen & Pedro for welcoming me into their home to capture some of the most precious moments with their family and their new baby girl. Hope you all enjoy!

Donovan

I’m excited to finally pause to share some of the moments I captured for Jason & Daria of their baby boy Donovan. Jason who is also an amazingly talented designer and one of my colleagues plotted a few awesome creative ideas for his baby boy’s photos. Donovan who was an adorable and content little guy for most of his photos at times had some ideas of his own that just made for a little more fun for us as we were challenged at times to capture some of these moments. I spent time admiring this precious little miracle and all of his perfection. We even had one of his pups join in to help us test a shot before one of the poses, which is just too cute not to share. Majority of Donovan’s photos were taken just before he turned a week old. Over the next two weeks his daddy built a letterpress collage to take a photo a lot like the one I had taken of Chance two years ago. I learned two years ago that that wonderful idea to photograph a newborn on letterpress wasn’t so easy, and with Chance it was more so because he was a little older than a newborn because of the time he spent in the nicu. So I was excited to get to try a similar shot again, with hopes to do something far more amazing …but preparing myself with the challenge of working with a newborn against all that type. It took a few attempts, but thankfully Donovan gave into our ideas and we hope you’ll agree that the moments spent with this little man are quite priceless.

Jason & Daria thanks again for all your patience and putting up with all my silly ideas…totally love your little man Donovan – he’s such a blessing. Best wishes to you all!

Moments with Shelby’s family

I’m super stoked to share this precious little peanut’s newborn photos with you all. Lauren & Travis were blessed with their baby girl last month and a little over a week after she was born we met to take her newborn photos. She was such a smiley little girl. Her big sister Emerson joined us too. Surprisingly, Emerson is the only other child, besides my niece Raven, that I’ve photographed with down syndrome…I absolutely loved every moment with her – she was soooooo much fun for to photograph. I’ve delayed sharing these moments on my blog because we met again not too long ago, when Shelby was just over a month old to take a few more family photos…yes, we’ve got quite a few awesome moments we captured with their family. Lauren & Travis thanks again for being so amazing…best wishes to you both – I absolutely adore that sweet family of yours…may you continue to be blessed with many more amazing moments ahead.

Kaavya

In the last five years since I’ve begun doing newborn photography I have to admit that I’ve been blessed with so much support on this journey. I’ve met so many families and so many photographers along the way. Among one of the most memorable is Erin Sharma, a designer and photographer and also a former student of mine. Back in 2009 after I had miscarried she stepped up to help support me in the month following as I bounced back quickly from all those surgeries. I recall being a tad bit nervous to take on my very first newborn session after all those medical moments due to the physical demands of doing newborn photography and she helped a handful of times that month and we’ve collaborated a few times as it’s worked into our schedules. So it was so awesome to get the news that her and her husband were expecting their little girl Kaavya. Ironically her little girl was the 99th newborn I photographed this past year. I’ve shared some of these images on my facebook page, but have neglected sharing the moments spent with her family until just now. I met with them a few times and am pretty sure you all will enjoy the reflections of moments with them.

I learned Erin had her baby while I was running the Miracle Miles run back in September while I was posting updates online during the run. Just a few hours later I got to pay her a visit in the hospital when she was just a day old.

Because Erin also had experience with newborn photography I was a tad bit excited, she of all people understood the patience needed to take some of the best newborn photos. However, we’ve both come to realize over the years that really, the baby controls all the sessions. In this case Kaavya, who was less than a week old here had other ideas that the sleepy curly newborn photos we had in mind. Still priceless, and yes…real moments. Kaavya clearly loved to cuddle most towards the end of our time during her newborn photos. She was such an alert little newborn for most of the time I spent with her in her first week after being born.

I met with Erin’s family again about two months after Kaavya was born so we could take photos of her entire family together, including her two older kids. It’s so amazing how quickly babies grow. I swear it’s like I blinked and Kaavya doubled in size, was more alert…but still as adorable as before. It’s pretty evident she’s surrounded with lots of love.

Erin thanks again for being so amazing and supportive the last few years. You’ll definitely remain one of my all-time favorite momma’s in my books …best wishes to you and your family. Hopefully these moments help remind you of how blessed you are.
