2006 Christmas Cards

Presenting the Kern Family’s 2006 Christmas cards… This year we decided that we’d let Hope’s creativity be the source of inspiration for our Christmas cards to help give that extra special personal touch to this year’s cards. They ended up being a lot more work than we realized, but the end result turned out rather […]

Phyllis - Amanda, I’m pretty sure there are child labor laws that are supposed to protect her. ;o) Very cute- I’m sure they’ll be treasured by all recipients. Merry Christmas!

Katie Simari - aww. that was a fun project for her, thats good, get her started early in the art biz. :) she’s got some talent for a 5 yr old! i mean, to come up with 50 ways to sign a christmas card, you know? that takes creativity! God bless her. I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas!

amandakern - Haha! And my students thought they had to do a lot of rough drafts, right. That’s it – I’m changing the projects so there are 50 rough drafts per project next semester guys. If a five year old can so can students, right? :o) JUST kidding. I must admit some of the funniest ones came down the home stretch when she started drawing crazy things like vampires, tic tac toe games and more santa claus’ inside the cards.

Aunt Deb - Our card was just lovely and what a sweet thing to have Hope do them all herself. I will treasure it forever. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!!!!

Barbara Peterson - I’ll always cherish my card with me drawn with vampire teeth. I guess she’s been reading my ratemyprofessor.com page. But I can’t take it too personally with those Santa drawings. But maybe she misunderstood when you said Santa Claus and thought you said Santa Claws. Too cute. Have a wonderful holiday.

2007 Christmas cards « Random Thoughts - [...] Last year we had a lot of fun making our own Christmas cards so we decided to take another stab at making new ones this year. Of course it’s fun to get Hope involved in creative projects and she certainly played a big part in this year’s cards. We decided to do just one version this year, though this year’s cards were actually MORE work than last years. The cards include a snowman made of buttons. Hope drew the snowman’s hat and arms, and insisted on making sure she drew an orange carrot nose on every snowman. [...]

'book'marks & puzzles

It’s always cute hearing when kids learn new words or when they make up their own words. Over the last few years we’ve heard many renditions of various words Hope’s learned to say. Considering her age she has a decent vocabulary but I couldn’t help but grin thinking how cute she was today with her […]

Aunt Deb - She must be very smart. When Joseph was little he loved puzzles and still does. don’t know what his IQ is but do know that he has done great in school. Let her little mind just keep on ticking.

10,000+ photos!

Well, I forgot to mention that during our trip last week I finally reached a milestone with my digital camera. I’ve had my camera about 2 1/2 years now and I’ve used it religiously. Most people know I love to take photos – well if this isn’t proof I don’t know what is. That’s right […]

2006 Summer trip

With some time between the summer and fall semesters, Jason and I decided we’d take a much needed trip to visit friends and family. Our first stop was Midland, Georgia to visit Hope’s God mother, Shanna. Luckily the Army moved Shanna and her family, Jeff and Tayler, a bit closer to us. Hope enjoyed swimming […]

Rainy Days at Sea World

Jason and I have some schedules that are near polar opposites these days so we may have time on Sunday or Monday so we usually try to make the most of our time. I must admit that we rarely make plans, it’s usually very last minute decisions to – oh say, go to Sea World. […]
