awwww. that is so cute! She will treasure that forever. I was thinking about doing something like this for my daughter and her friends. they got to OCSA (Osceola County School for The Arts) and the yearbook there is almost $80.00 and my daughter refuse to get it because i guess the yearbook committee only featured themselves and their friends... it would be cool to let her take some photos with her and her friends and we could make her own little yearbook! This is a really cool idea. i love it. and you are a good mommy!!! :)

Hi Amanda and Phyllis,
I've been at this a lot longer than either of you and regardless of whether you put pictures in a scrapbook or not if you are there for your kids - as both you two are - they will be just fine. Remember there was a time when no one had baby books and people survived. But isn't it great that we have all these pictures to totally embarrass them at their weddings, graduations or whatever! Been there done that!

Thanks Phyllis. Well, I hate to admit it but I haven't finished any photo album or scrapbooks for Hope either. I have had the guilt trip for not finishing her baby scrapbook for the longest time. I really enjoy scrapbooking but between the fact that it is time consuming, things easily fall out of the books, and that I couldn't easily duplicate the scrapbooks so Hope and I would each have our own copy I really never devoted as much time to doing them. In fact, I have a ton of scrapbook supplies sitting in my closet waiting to be used. But NOW that there are sites like blurb that allow you to self publish I'd so much rather create a book that becomes a keepsake and as you can see in the preview I am able to design it with photoshop in a way that it can be similar to a scrapbook. With this project I approached the first half of it like a scrapbook and the last half solely featured including the imagery so that it was more like a "photo album". And the best part of it all is that it's not any extra work for me to duplicate the book so I can order a copy for myself, Hope and then also share it with her classmates, her teacher, and our family & friends.

And though I'd hate to admit how much time I spent working on it between planning the ideas for it, taking the photos, and then creating the layouts in photoshop - it was so worth every minute of it. I'm finding that with the more books I create, the faster I become at creating them and blurb makes it super easy to create the book. In fact, so easy that I'm planning on now creating separate books for Jaylen and Hope's first year and then a separate book for each year after. If you haven't tried creating a blurb book - I highly recommend it. I've been quite pleased with both how easy they are to create and the final end results of each one I've created.

Amanda, that is pretty darn amazing. Let me see, Savannah is 15 now and I've yet to even put her photos in an album- much less create one digitally. What a great remembrance of a special year for Hope! You're such a good Mommy! ;o)
